Yep, that's younger me.

So here's the whole story...

If your story is anything like mine and you’re looking to make changes in your life, you’ve found the right place! I remember being a teenager and feeling all the pressure in the world to look and feel a certain way. I tried my first “fad” diet and got so excited when it started to work, only to feel so disappointed and ashamed when it stopped working long-term.

I chased the excitement of losing weight, and in the process, felt like I was starving myself and pushing way too hard with exercise. It was too easy to type in “diet” online and find one hundred experts, all claiming their diet was “revolutionary” and “life changing,” all in the matter of 30, 60, 90 days… but each one only led to losing weight that would always seem to come back.

In late high school and throughout college, I continued to struggle with weight gain despite following all the advice of the “experts” I could find. Again and again, it seemed like nothing worked to help me feel healthy, well, or happy. My mental health started to be impacted and I battled symptoms of depression and anxiety all while juggling more diets. I felt that if I could just change one secret hidden thing, everything would change and I would immediately find the success I was looking for… but whatever secret everyone claimed worked for them just didn’t work for me.

It all culminated in a moment I’ll never forget - In my 20s, I was at a medical appointment when my doctor casually mentioned that my weight for my height meant that I was in the “obese” category. I didn’t know what or how to feel at that news. After college, feeling lost in my field of study and frustrated by my lack of progress at losing that newly placed label, I turned to self-help books and the library once more in search of real answers for my health. I believed there had to be more out there.

At this point in the story, I would like to shout out my Nana, who knew I was looking for answers and showed me a book that would change my life and its trajectory - Practical Paleo by Diane Sanfilippo. This led me to look at my nutrition first and examine what I was eating and rather than relentlessly calorie counting.

Through a lot of trial and error with recipes, tricks/tips, and listening to my body, I started to see results. These small changes day after day led to more and more results, eventually expanding my knowledge into fasting and tools to support symptoms of anxiety and depression. It wasn’t until I instituted more wellness practices and listened to my body that I was able to understand that we are all on a journey toward better health - and that it takes time, consistency, and dedication. Some days on that journey are going to be tougher than others and some will be easier (and sometimes you just need a break too!) but each day we have is another step that we can take to make ourselves feel the best that we can be. It’s time to show up for yourself and I’d love to help guide you on your health and wellness journey. I’m here to support you!
